The New Foscote Hospital has been successfully established in Banbury for almost 40 years and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region during this time. We have over 50 consultants, all of whom are leaders in their specialist fields and choose to hold their private practices here, working alongside our friendly, highly qualified and experienced nursing and support teams. With the expansion of the hospital and the opening of a second theatre, there is an exciting opportunity for an experienced / senior RGN to join our fantastic team.

Role Purpose:

At The New Foscote Hospital, the Senior Staff Nurse will assist in the daily nursing duties on the ward, in pre-op assessment and outpatient department clinics. They will support and mentor junior staff, as well as assist the Matron and Sister with any additional responsibilities. These will include the daily running of the ward and guaranteeing completion of personal and team tasks. They will provide and ensure that quality planned care for patients, both pre and postoperative, is consistent throughout their journey with us.

• Monitor and assist in the delivery of patient-centred care

• A ‘hands on’ role within the nursing environment
• Encourage, develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self
• Promote best evidence-based practice
• Apply and comply with legislation, policies and procedures
• To be responsible for completion of daily tasks and checks
• To report to Sister or Matron

Qualifications & Technical Skills
• Diploma / Degree in adult general nursing
• Trained in Phlebotomy & Cannulation
• Trained in wound assessment
• Trained in administering medications
• IV trained
• Trained in basic observations / ECGs
• Safeguarding (Adults) Level 3
• Trained in catheterisation

Knowledge & Experience
• An understanding of perioperative patient care
• Knowledge of the deteriorating patient
• Practical knowledge of safeguarding within a healthcare setting
• At least 2 years of post-qualification experience within an appropriate healthcare setting
• Surgical ward experience / acute care setting
• Previous experience within a similar role of Senior Staff Nurse
• Experienced in complaint handling
