Medacs Healthcare is currently looking for a Consultant Gastroenterologist to join a large university NHS Trust based in South of England.

Contract type: Full time/Fixed term
Contract length: 12 months - extendable
Salary scale: £79,860 to £107,668 per annum depending on experience

The post will consist of 10 Programmed Activities which includes 1.5 SPAs. Any additional PAs that may be required will be discussed, agreed and job planned with the successful appointee. The Trust is currently moving towards 7 day working, the endoscopy unit undertaking activity Monday-Sunday.
Each gastroenterologist spends 5 weeks looking after all the medical gastroenterology patients on a designated GI ward. When off the wards, the ward round sessions may be utilised for extra service provision such as an extra clinic and/or an extra endoscopy list dependent on the service needs at that time. When not covering the ward, the other five gastroenterologists participate in the GI bleeding rota and triage service.

Requirements:
• MRCP or equivalent.
• Specialist Register for Gastroenterology and General Medicine. (or be eligible for entry onto these registers within 6 months of application)
• Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Gastroenterology and G(I)M
• Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems, relating to Gastroenterology and endoscopy
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
• Ability to advise and run a smooth, efficient Gastroenterology service for both inpatients and outpatients.
• Ability to organize and manage outpatient priorities and treatment.
