Locum Consultant in Haematology

Medacs Healthcare is currently looking for a Locum Consultant in Haematology to work at a large NHS Hospital based in South West England area.

Grade: Consultant in Haematology
Contract type: Full time/Fixed term
Contract length: 12 months - extendable
Salary scale: £79,860 to £107,668 per annum depending on experience for 10 PA’s plus 1 extra PA

Main clinical duties:
1. The post holder is expected to run outpatients clinics and ward rounds according to an agreed job plan. He or She will provide clinical and laboratory advice to medical and nursing staff within the hospital as well as health professionals in the primary care in collaboration with the other consultant haematologists. The post holder will be required to assist in the prompt interpretation of the findings.
2. The post holder must have a general haematological knowledge and be able to deal with al haematological problems; an interest in multiple myeloma is encouraged with the expectation that they will become lead clinician for myeloma and set up a weekly specialist myeloma clinic.
3. The post holder should have an interest in clinical trials and would be expected to work with the research department to set up a portfolio of clinical trials for myeloma.
4. The job plan for this post will include clinical lead for chemotherapy for the hospital which would attract 1PA and require attendance at the hospital chemotherapy meetings.

Requirements:
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion within 6 months of interview date
- Full registration with the GMC
- 5 years clinical experience in Clinical & Laboratory Haematology at Specialist Registrar level or equivalent
- Evidence of the clinical skills required to fulfil the specialty and sub-specialty elements of the job as in the job description and technical specification
