ABOUT THE ROLE

The Mental Health Service, Te Ara Maioha, at Hauora Tairāwhiti is looking to employee a Consultant Psychiatrist who is keen to manage a diverse clinical workload. The current vacancies are within the adult team however there is flexibility in the service to accommodate psychiatrists from other subspecialties.
The Mental Health team provides a number of services including Te Kuwatawata which has been designed in response to the inequity for Maori within Tairawhiti and gives a unique work opportunity. Other services are within the Tairāwhiti Region are Inpatient, Community, Infant, Child & Adolescent and Mental Health Services for Older People areas
The successful applicant will have the ability to engage meaningfully in service development work and will have a desire for quality improvement. There is support for research and professional development. This role will suit a psychiatrist who enjoys diversity of work experiences, and has a desire to make a difference within our community.
The psychiatrists work collegially and share peer review activities. Psychiatrists participate in an on call roster, which is dependent on team numbers and worked with great flexibility.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in Psychiatry
• Fellowship of the RANZCP is desirable
• Experience across any sector in Mental Health and Addictions
• Have a current New Zealand driver's license
