On behalf of my client we are recruiting for a Head of Residential Services for the Somerset area. This is an independent specialist residential college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger's syndrome and associated complex needs including behavioural difficulties.

This is an exciting new opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and proactive care professional who can help develop and maintain new CQC registered homes for young people with ASD. The successful applicant must have significant experience of working at a management level within CQC provision for young people and have an in-depth understanding of autism and complex needs. Extensive practical knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation is also a requirement for this role.

This opportunity requires candidates who hold excellent communication and organisational skills and an ability to provide multi-site management. A proven track record of providing high quality care provision, achieving good or better outcomes; with the commitment and ability to work with colleagues and a range of internal and external stakeholders to develop outstanding provision is an essential requirement.

Experience of setting up new services is desirable, as is the need to advocate for and support educational provision. Excellent interpersonal skills will be an advantage, as the role includes providing guidance, support and leadership to colleagues at all levels.
