Medacs Healthcare is currently looking for a Consultant Physician in Care of the Elderly for a large NHS Hospital based in South West England.
This is an excellent job opportunity.

SALARY SCALE: £76,761 to £103,490 per annum

The Trust wish to appoint new consultant colleagues to join their expanding Care of the Elderly service at the hospital.
The employer is one of the largest Foundation Trusts in England with a sufficiently large and diverse workforce of healthcare professionals to encourage sub-specialisation interests. These include: frailty service, falls, orthogeriatrics, surgical liaison, movement disorders, community geriatrics, dementia and the flexibility to embrace new and as yet undeveloped areas of interest.
There is a brand new Frailty Ward there and this is a 4th largest orthogeriatric department in the country.

Core to this post is the early Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment of the frail elderly presenting as emergencies to the Hospital, the development and support of the Frailty Assessment service and to increase the provision of general elderly care medicine within our trust and county.

Specific responsibilities of the post
They expect the post-holder to develop and lead a robust service in order to provide high quality care to frail older patients in a timely manner.

- to be responsible for patients seen by the FAS service on a rota basis
- to be responsible for medical input to general elderly medicine inpatients on one of our Care of the Elderly wards
- to be responsible for providing advice and input to elderly medicine patients referred from other medical or surgical specialties
- to provide advice and input to elderly medicine patients referred via GP’s and/or senior nursing/therapy staff within the county
- to provide outpatient clinics depending on the interests of the applicant and needs of the county-wide service
- to provide weekend post take and FAS ward rounds for Care of the Elderly Medicine at GRH on a 1 in 8 fixed session rota (no on-call)
- to conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements within the parameters of our Division’s and Trust’s agreed objectives
