Medacs Healthcare is currently looking for a Consultant in Stroke Medicine to work at a large NHS Teaching Hospital based in South West England.

SALARY SCALE: £76,761 to £103,490 per annum
This is a replacement post to join the 2 existing consultants who work within a dynamic multi-professional team. Candidates from any parent specialty are encouraged to apply.
This is a 10PA post (8.5 DCC and 1.5 SPA) although candidates wishing to work less than full time are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have responsibility for hyperacute and acute stroke care and well as rehabilitation and stroke prevention. The posts reflect a firm commitment within the Trust to continue the development of high quality stroke care. Participation in the General Medical on call rota is also available if desired (but is not essential).

The Stroke Service admits approximately 400 patients per year, and sees around 800 patients per year in the fast track TIA clinic. Hyperacute and acute stroke is managed on the current 25 bedded acute stroke unit (ASU) which includes 10 hyperacute beds. Patients requiring longer inpatient rehabilitation are cared for in the 16 bedded dedicated stroke rehabilitation unit. There is a well-established Early Supported Discharge Team with a “10 bed capacity”.

Requirements:
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion within 6 months of interview date
- Full registration with the GMC
- MRCP or equivalent
- Evidence of experience in a range of acute medical specialties.
- Evidence of experience in Stroke Medicine.
- Able to demonstrate proficiency in a range of medical procedures as an indication of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
