Mental Health Occupational Therapist (OT) - South London

Pay Rate: £23.05 per hour

Length: 3 month contract

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Occupational Therapist to work within The Promoting Recovery Team in a South London Service. As a Mental Health Occupational Therapist in the team, you will be working with clients with severe and enduring mental illnesses. You will be an autonomous practitioner supporting a safe transition of patients discharged from secondary to primary care, with a focus on enabling GP practises to provide effective continuing care and to ensure access to support in terms of wider social instructions/self-management needs.

This post offer an exciting opportunity to work with a varied caseload of service users aged between 18 - 65 years within a well-established community occupational therapy service. You will be providing short-term interventions for clients with more complex and severe, enduring mental illness (SMI) in primary care with the aim of preventing deterioration, relapse and re-admission to secondary care mental health services.

To succeed in this role previous community experience is essential. Ideally you will have expertise in any or all of the following areas of work; Grooming/hygiene, home management and working in a community setting (particularly work in psychosocial groups etc.)

Mental Health Occupational Therapist to work within an Community Mental Health Team must have the below requirements;

* Hold the necessary certificates and qualifications for a Mental Health OT.
* Must be registered (with no restrictions) with the HCPC.
* Must have experience working in the community.
* Demonstrates high standards in written and oral communication, problem solving and computer skills.
* Be able to work full time hours
* The client is offering this position on a locum basis for a period of 3 months with the view to extend.
