The post holder will:-
Specifically adopt, in conjunction with colleagues, an active role in planning, development and delivery of the vascular service at a time when the organisation of vascular services is undergoing great change

The successful applicant will participate in a planned middle grade “surgeon of the week” weekday 8am-5pm rota and a separate night-time and weekend rota, both based in the Intervention Centre. The surgeon of the week (SOTW), whose routine duties are cancelled for the week, is responsible for daily ward rounds, emergency referrals and admissions and coordinating and undertaking emergency interventions.

The post-holder is likely to have day case and out-patient duties in the spoke trusts and affiliated hospitals, and he / she will be responsible for assessing in-house referrals arising at these sites. Job plans are arranged in order that each non-arterial trust has a consultant or middle grade

The Trust supports the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal College of Surgeons and is committed to providing time and support for these activities.

The post holder will receive the full support of the Trust and the Directorate to develop specialist areas of interest in line with Directorate business plans and the development of services generally within the Trust

* Full GMC registatrion or Process of obtaining GMC registatrion .

The new hybrid operating theatre has built-in video facilities for teaching purposes and video-linkage to the Education Centre is planned.
