Medacs Healthcare is currently looking for middle grade A&E doctors who are interested in applying for Trust Grade CESR Registrar in Emergency Medicine (ST4+ equivalent) based at a large NHS Trust based in London. This is an excellent job opportunity.

The hospitals belonging to the Trust offer a full portfolio of services that serve the needs of the local community, and are home to some of Britain’s leading specialist centres including cancer, cardiac, trauma and emergency care. The Trust also has one of the UK’s busiest children’s hospitals and internationally renowned surgical facilities.

This is a four year rotation. It is aimed at providing a route to article 14, entry onto the Specialist Register and Consultant appointment in Emergency Medicine.

In each 12 month period, a dedicated 3 month secondment will be granted subject to satisfactory performance in a number of specialities to ensure the successful candidates acquire the necessary competencies for their career progression and obtains the competencies essential for CESR approval.
This post is coupled with a rewarding salary package.

Salary Scale in the Region of £75,000 PA

Hours per week: 48 hours per week
Contract length: 12 months contract with a review after 6 months in post.

There are usually no on call commitments whilst on secondment, except where this specifically contributes to the training in that area. You will continue to receive a full time salary as there will be an expectation that some out of hours duties will be undertaken within the Emergency Department.

During your secondment posting, your learning and acquisition of essential competencies must be self-directed. The Trust has a proven track record of supporting successful applicants through this process leading to CESR, entry on to the Specialist Register and Consultant appointment.

This role will work with a multidisciplinary work-force, including nursing, allied health care professionals and support services.

Main duties and responsibilities

• To work and provide clinical care to ensure patient safety and safe clinical practice
• To provide support as a senior doctor in the ED for junior staff
• To work with the nursing and allied health care staff to ensure good clinical care is provided
• To work under the guidance of the ED consultants and seek their advice as appropriate
• To work in designated areas of the ED which would include RAT (rapid assessment and Triage), Resuscitation, majors, minors and paediatrics
• To work in the ED clinical decision unit area
• To continence to maintain their own CPD and address their learning needs as determined by local, regional and national directives.

• Diagnosis, resuscitation and initial treatment of all emergency patients. These comprise of self referred and ambulance cases.
