We are currently recruiting A&E nurses for very busy accident and emergency department in Essex. Our client is a District General Hospital providing acute services to people of West Essex and East Hertfordshire and has a positive and successful approach to developing and delivering health care. Hospital is located 25 minutes from Central London by train.
The Trust is climbing the performance league tables and was shortlisted this year for the first ever National Compassionate Patient Care Award and finished runner - up in the 500 entry Guardian Public Service Award for measuring excellence.

Job Description

To plan, provide and maintain effective nursing care to patients/clients and their relatives. To continuously develop and enhance knowledge and skills that will directly influence consistent standards of clinical practice.

Working with the team, support the development of student nurses and junior staff, creating an atmosphere conductive to learning and practice development.

Main duties and responsibilities:

* Understanding triage, which is a method of prioritizing injuries based on medical need
* Emergency nurse must have the ability to make quick and accurate assessments about incoming patients, including both physical and mental health conditions
* Time management is crucial in this job. Along with triage, emergency nurses must quickly ascertain the following information from incoming patients:
* Identify the medical problem
* Document medical history
* Check for any allergies and current medications
* Obtain height, weight, body temperature, heart rate and blood pressure
* Emergency nurses are expected to comply with protocols, procedures and safety policies of a health care facility. Emotional stability, communication, leadership, sympathy and attention to details
* Moving patients, taking blood samples, cleaning and bandaging wounds, administering medications and maintaining proper supplies of medical equipment.

Essential Requirements

* Registered Nurse (part 1 register) Degree/Diploma equivalent/experience.
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Understanding of NMC code of professional Conduct
* Knowledge of clinical governance
* Awareness of research to support clinical practice
* Ability to assess, plan care and evaluate for a variety of surgical patients including emergency and complex care.
