We are currently seeking an experienced Trust Grade Registrar in Respiratory and General Medicine for immediate placement in the Isle of Wight area. The position is available on a full time permanent basis.

Core duties would include:

* The post holder will be based at the Hospital, where there are ample opportunities for clinical respiratory experience in both in-patient and out-patient settings. The Respiratory Department offers a well equipped service, including bronchoscopy and respiratory/ sleep physiology. A number of nurse specialists support the department.

* There are excellent facilities in the Region for training and experience in all aspects of respiratory medicine. Trainees are encouraged to attend the national British Thoracic Society meetings. There are regular regional study/teaching days for trainees as well as a vibrant local post graduate education programme.

* There is special interest and expertise in a variety of areas including: lung cancer, pleural diseases, non invasive ventilation, asthma, COPD, interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary infections and sleep disorders. There is an opportunity to train in Bronchoscopy.

* Thoracic surgery is performed at the Hospital. Non invasive ventilation is available on ward and the intensive care unit.

* Clinical duties will include the in-patient management of all patients admitted to the medical wards and Medical Admissions Unit while on call together with appropriate respiratory support to other medical and surgical teams.

* Continuing care of patients will be undertaken on ward. The post holder will be required to undertake out-patient clinics under consultant supervision and to provide clinical supervision for more junior medical staff.


* Qualified Doctor
* Valid GMC registration
