The Key Responsibilities of the candidate will be;

First and foremost, to work as part of a team as a residential child care worker to provide

high quality care.

 To role model good child care practice within a service and facilitate opportunities for

mentoring and reflective processes amongst colleagues.

 Lead and manage shifts on a daily basis to ensure safeguarding, complaints procedures and

equal opportunities are met.

 To provide support and guidance to colleagues in the service in order to

actively promote good practice and personal development.

 Supporting training, development and organisational groups and activities such as

peer/induction support, through training delivery, contributing to working groups.

 To ensuring young people are actively involved in the environment and day to day activities

of the home

 To undertake planned and agreed pieces of work, out with the 'home' service, agreed with

and supported by the Line Manager.

 To support the team in assessing, defining issues and identifying solutions to challenges

presented.

 To identify and help address issues of practice by provide appropriate solutions through

advice, guidance and positive role modeling to other staff.

 To provide appropriate responses where remedial intervention is required as part of a

planned, structured and clearly coordinated approach, approved by the line manager.

 To promote a culture of open and honest communication.

 To respond to the external mentoring needs of colleagues who require support in addition

to that provided by the line manager.

 To work in a positive solution focused way at all times.

 To provide formal reflective supervision of staff members in line with company policy.

 To facilitate meeting with young people and other professionals as directed by the

manager

 Fulfil the key working role for a specific child, complete all paperwork relating to this role

and be responsible for the welfare of the young person.

 Prepare and participate in care plans, reviews and produce reports for reviews etc to a high

standard.

 To be able to reflect on own working practice recognising the importance of providing a

role model; making use of supervision, briefing and debriefing sessions.

 Promote equal opportunities and support diversity.

 Monitor one's own behaviour and be aware of the effect it can have on others

Qualifications and Experience required;

Hold the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or a qualification the registered manager

considers to be equivalent, if the employee doesn't hold this qualification it must be completed

within 2 years of their start date.

The person must have the appropriate skills and experience for the work they are to perform, to

hold a senior position this will be ideally 18 months in residential childcare.
