Medacs Heal;thcare is currently recruiting for ST1 Doctors in Paediatrics for the larh=ge Trust in Yorkshire.

The salary scale is up to £45000 per year

PRINCIPAL DUTIES OF THE POST

The principle duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients from and around Scarborough.

1 To, at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor

1 To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.

1 To undertake duties as defined within the job description in so far as practicable and in agreement with your clinical director.

1 To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of any Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.

1 On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust's Corporate Induction.

1 To participate in the Trust's statutory and mandatory training programme

1 To be responsible for the clinical management of in and out patients under your care.

1 To comply with Trust policies and procedures where appropriate.

1 To ensure that all intellectual property rights of the Trust are observed.

THE POST

We are looking for 2 dynamic and enthusiastic speciality doctors (ST1-3) to join the paediatric team in Scarborough. The individuals will work on both the paediatric ward and level 1 neonatal unit and will be exposed to a broad range of childhood illnesses.

The department is extremely friendly and trainees are well supported. The department operates a consultant delivered service and when oncall GPVTS and ST1 and 2 trainees are supported by resident consultants.

Duties of the post will include:

Seeing and assessing new patients referred to the paediatric team by either the GP or emergency department.

Working with the paediatric middle grade and consultant to resuscitate and stabilising severely unwell children in the emergency department prior to transfer to the ward or an intensive care unit.

Helping with the day-to-day care of all medical patients on the paediatric ward including twice daily consultant supervised ward rounds.

Working with the surgical and orthopaedic teams to provide shared care to all surgical and orthopaedic patients admitted to the paediatric ward.

Performing routine examination of normal newborn babies on the maternity ward.

Attending high risk deliveries on labour ward and providing resuscitation to newborn babies. The post holder will receive training in newborn resuscitation and will be supported in attending deliveries until they feel confident to attend alone.

Care of patients on the Special Care Baby Unit (level 1 neonatal unit) including unwell term babies and preterm babies.

The post holder will be expected to work with the multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with all team members.

The post holder will be expected to keep themselves up to date with current knowledge & practice, to attend clinical meetings within the department & to participate in audit.

The post holder will be expected to participate in a full shift rota.

The post holder will be required to deputise for absent colleagues from time to time and to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

The requirement is GMC registration or in process.

TIER2 visa is provided.
