We are currently seeking an experienced Consultant Doctor specialising in Old Age Psychiatry. This will be for immediate permanent placement in a specialised NHS Trust situated in Hull. The position is available on a full time permanent basis.

This will be an exciting opportunity to influence the development of older people's mental health services as clinical lead for older people.

As a senior, you will required to provide medical input and clinical leadership to the Community Mental Health team. You also need to show a willingness to participate in medical student teaching and postgraduated training

When examining patients, you will need to ensure physical health is considered alongside psychological and social issues.

You must have full registration with the GMC or in the process of registering and continue to hold a Licence to Practice. You must also have experience working in community mental health services in the UK, especially at consultant level.

Patients you will encounter include:

* People who develop a new mental illness in old age (both functional and organic illness)

* Patients with enduring mental health problems under the care of General Psychiatric colleagues who develop or are assessed to have needs more appropriately provided by an Old Age Psychiatric Service as defined within the Trust's Needs-Led Service Policy document.

* Younger people who have developed an organic illness and are assessed to have needs more appropriately provided by an Old Age Psychiatrist. (for example cases of early onset dementia)

Requirements:

* Qualified in Psychiatry
* Valid GMC registration
* We cannot accept candidates without NHS experience for this role.
