A challenging and rewarding job opportunity for a full time, permanent Paediatric Occupational Therapist has become available in North London. Our client, a leading NHS Trust is looking for an experienced Band 6 to join their busy, expanding ream. The salary will be based on experience and qualifications.

The main duties of the job include providing specialist OT services for children and young adults aged birth to nineteen years old with a caseload ranging from mild and moderate to complex needs. You would tackle a range of conditions including neurological, developmental delay, progressive and congenital syndromes, specific coordination difficulties and social communication disorders.

As a senior therapist you'll be required to manage a mixed and continually evolving caseload as an autonomous practitioner working across a variety of community including hospitals, clinics, patients own homes, nurseries, mainstream and special schools. As part of an experienced multidisciplinary team you'll liaise with with various departments in Health, Education and Social Services.

Other duties of the job include regularly supervising and training junior therapists and student on placement. Due to the nature of the job clear and concise communication skills both verbal and in writing will be essential to your success. At times you will be managing conflict and potentially stressful, upsetting and emotional situations so and understanding and empathetic manner is crucial to deal with emotional parents and guardians to deliver challenging news.

As the successful candidate it's expected that you would have highly advanced organisational skills to allow you to maintain intense concentration for prolonged periods of time while analysing auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of a child's functional ability on a daily basis as an integral part of assessing and treating their conditions.

To be considered for the job it is a prerequisite that you have got a degree, diploma or equivalent in Occupational Therapy combined with a current HCPC registration. Demonstrable experience in assessing and treating patients with a wide range of complex conditions will be essential to your success.
