Lead Consultant in Gastroenterology

Medacs Healthcare is currently looking for a Lead Consultant in Gastroenterology to work in a large NHS hospital in South Yorkshire.

Contract type: Full time/Permanent
Contract length: 12 months
Salary scale: £75,249 - £101,451

This is a full time 10 PA general medicine post with a special interest in gastroenterology.
The post holder will work alongside three existing Gastroenterology Consultants and will take a lead role in expanding the established IBD service.
The post is integral to maintaining the quality and extent of the service provided by the Department of Gastroenterology, and to enable delivery of the strategic objectives. The department provides the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including ERCP and advanced therapeutics, facilities for VCE are in place. The department offers specialist services including IBD services, rapid access dyspepsia endoscopy clinics, nutrition and hepatology.

There are opportunities to specialise in other areas such as ERCP, hepatology, nutrition and advanced endoscopy.

Key responsibilities:

• Provision of Consultant delivered Gastroenterology Services as identified in the job plan.
• Education, training and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff including trainees and MDT.
• Administrative duties to ensure the proper functioning of the department.
• Provision of cover for colleagues’ periods of leave.
• Participation in medical audit, clinical governance and continuing professional development relating to Gastroenterology Medicine and General Medicine.
• Management and supervision of medical, nursing and other professional staff within the MDT.
• Development and maintenance of collaborative working relationships with STH and surrounding DGH’s and the assurance of partnership working across local networks.

Requirements:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice, on specialist register in Gastroenterology
- Appropriate experience and clinical expertise in Gastroenterology
