Medacs Healthcare is currently looking for a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Breast Imaging to work at a large teaching hospital in Lancashire.
This post is a new post, which has been developed to assist the Trust to expand and enhance their rapidly expanding imaging service, and support the increased demand and development of dedicated breast services.
This post is specifically for a radiologist with a specialist interest in breast imaging, where we have an established and increasing demand within the symptomatic imaging service, involving rapid access clinics, follow up imaging , ultrasound intervention, mammography biopsy, wire insertion, clip insertion, reporting and MDT attendance.
It is a full time (10 PA) post.
Salary scale: £75,249 – £101,451 per annum depending on experience
The clinical commitments of this post will include a specialist interest in breast imaging primarily along with some responsibility for provision of appropriate aspects of the diagnostic radiology service at the hospital, which may include Ultrasound, CT, Plain film and MR.
The breast imaging service is in a dedicated unit and is integrated with the surgical team involved in breast care. The unit has a digital Hologic Selenia Dimensions Mammography system and an GE Voluson Ultrasound machine. There are two Secure-view workstations to enable double reporting to be done in a timely fashion and to enable two radiologists to work simultaneously to deliver the reporting component.
The post holder will be supported by the radiographic team, who have achieved Postgraduate Certificate level and one is a qualified reporting radiographer and we are currently training a radiographer to perform some mammographic interventional procedures on a course at the University of Salford.
- FRCR (or equivalent)
- Full and specialist registration with the GMC (or eligible within 3 months of interview)
- The appointee will be on the specialist register for Diagnostic Radiology, or eligible to join.
- Applicants should have a wide range of experience in, and be able to demonstrate commitment to radiology.
- Applicants should have experience of working in radiology in the UK.
- Significant experience in reading mammograms
- Good experience of performing breast ultrasound and biopsies.
