Medacs Healthcare is currently recruiting Consultant Histopathologist to work at a large NHS hospital based in West Midlands.

This is a substantive Consultant post to replace a person who has retired.

Candidates with an interest in haematopathology, dermatopathology or gastro-intestinal pathology are preferred although there is a degree of flexibility in choosing of specialities.

The appointees will join an establishment of 13 WTE pathologists who are responsible for the histopathology and cytopathology service and share in the autopsy service.
Salary scale: £75,249 - £101,451 per annum depending on experience

Clinical Duties
? To share in the provision of a diagnostic and consultative histopathology, non-gynaecological cytopathology and possibly in the morbid anatomy service to the Heart of England Foundation Trust and other purchasers. The consultant medical staff will deputise for each other during annual leave and study leave.
? To maintain and expand close clinico-pathological links with the appropriate clinical colleagues and develop special interests which will expand the repertoire and expertise of the department.
? To be actively involved, along with consultant colleagues, and equally share in the responsibility for the training of trainee medical staff and Biomedical Scientists.
? To participate in audit.
? To participate in continuing professional development (CPD). Sufficient time will be allocated for this activity and the Trust provides sufficient funding. There is a fund, currently set at £1000 per annum, for each consultant to use for study leave.
? To participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes as appropriate.
- Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- Wide experience in general histopathology and cytopathology and morbid anatomy
- Effective communication skills
