GlobalMediRec Ltd on behalf of our client, an NHS Hospital are looking for a number of senior specialists/Consultants in Gastroenterology to take up long term NHS contracts, starting as soon as possible for a 12 month period or even beyond that..

Evidence of clinical audit
Sound diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy skills
Competent in the management of
Gastroenterological and General (Internal) Medicine Conditions, especially for on call

Job Summary
The post holder will be expected to provide general medical and Gastroenterology services as outlined in the job plan. The post-holder would also be expected to take an active role in the functioning of Medical Admission Unit and take a shared lead role to manage the interface between acute medicine and emergency department.
Key result areas/ Main responsibilities
The post holder will be expected to share the GI workload with existing GI physician. ERCP experience is not a requirement, although would be useful.
The post holder will be responsible for on-going care of their inpatients and for providing consult services in Gastroenterology for other medical teams and other directorates. He/she will undertake all administrative duties allocated with the care of his/her patients.
Participation in a Consultant on-call rota, plus provide cover for Consultant colleagues during leave etc. The current rota is “Physician of the week” acute medical take-in system on a 1:6 weekdays and 1:8 weekend basis.
The post holder will be expected to work with the other specialists at neighbouring Hospitals to support existing and new gastroenterology service developments.
To provide a high standard of inpatient and outpatient clinic and endoscopy services in gastroenterology and general internal medicine according to the job plan.
Participation with other Consultants in the facility for patients requiring admission to hospital including participation in the day to day management of patients admitted to the Medical Assessment Unit/ CCU/ General medical wards.
The post holder will be expected to take a shared lead role in the functioning of Medical Admission Unit
The post holder will be expected to do one clinic and endoscopy session.
There are plans to start an emergency GI bleeding rota within the Trust and the post holder would be expected to participate in the rota. The frequency of this on call is yet to be determined.
