Job summary
We're seeking an enthusiastic doctor to join our gastroenterology team. This full-time position offers outpatient, inpatient, and endoscopic gastroenterology services. Part-time and job-share candidates are welcome. Specializing in general or hepatology is a plus. You'll have clinical responsibility for gastroenterological patients.

Main duties of the job
• Deliver a high-quality district general hospital gastroenterology service, which includes endoscopy, and ensures the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses while maintaining service functionality.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the gastroenterology service following national and NICE guidelines.
• Provide professional supervision and management for junior medical staff, adhering to local employment and human resource policies.
• Carry out teaching, examination, and accreditation responsibilities and support medical education at various levels.
• Participate in medical audit and clinical effectiveness activities, particularly in the Trust's Clinical Governance processes, to enhance quality and standards

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
• Deliver high-quality gastroenterology services, including endoscopy, and contribute to development in line with national guidelines.
• Supervise junior medical staff and participate in education and clinical effectiveness activities.
• Comply with equal opportunities, health and safety, infection control, and data protection policies. Engage in emergency on-call duties, including weekends.
• Be courteous and helpful to patients and colleagues.

Person Specification
Essential
Essential
• Full GMC Registration with a License to Practice
• Higher UK qualification - MRCP or equivalent recognized by the GMC.
• Knowledge and application of up to date evidence-based practice

Desirable
• Relevant higher Degree either Masters, Doctorate level or equivalent
• Training in Thoracoscopy and plural ultrasound
• Subspecialty within Gastroenterology
