What if we told you that there's an opportunity to experience a new kind of life in New Zealand, while making satisfying use of your mental health expertise and developing your career?

It's true. Southern DHB covers New Zealand's largest geographical area, at the bottom of the South Island, and we're looking for registered Mental Health Professionals to join our multi-disciplinary team.

Here at Southern DHB, we're up to the challenge of realising our vision of Better Health, Better Lives, Whanau Ora; and to help us achieve this we're very focused on bringing people into our organisation who display our values of being Kind, Open and Positive, with a sense of Community.

At the very top of our list of reasons to join us at Southern DHB is the lifestyle that the Southern region offers. We're home to the most beautiful landscapes in NZ, if it's the great outdoors that presses your buttons; and we're within easy reach of the likes of Queenstown if its adrenalin you seek. It's all here - the opportunity to create your dream work/life balance.

Within the Southern DHB region; Dunedin, Queenstown, Central Otago, Waitaki and Invercargill all offer the benefits of excellent amenities, first class schooling - primary through to university, excellent recreational opportunities, great food and wine, outstanding nature, and an amazing variety of climates and locations from coastal to mountain. Some people call it the ends of the earth, but we think it's 'the last best place'.

We cover a broad geographical area and all mental health specialities. We're currently seeking expressions of interest and applications from experienced Mental Health Professionals (for current and upcoming vacancies) right across our Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability service. These include Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers; and cover the whole life spectrum of child, youth/adolescent, adult, family and older people, in both community and inpatient settings

What will it take?

Ultimately - the right to live and work in New Zealand and registration with the relevant Professional body. Plus, a willingness to realise a new lifestyle for you and your family that the southern region can offer. If you're thinking about a move to New Zealand there will never be a better time. We can put you in touch with others who've already made the life changing decision to move to New Zealand and join the team at SouthernDHB.

If you are overseas and want to see if you are eligible for professional registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council (NCNZ), head to:

The NCNZ recognise RNMH, RNLD, RNID and RMN qualifications, so if you have been thinking about a move but thought your scope was not recognised, think again!

If you're ready to take that first step on your journey, then we're ready to take the journey with you.

We look forward to seeing your application soon.
