Why A Doctor Job In Dubai Could Be The Right Move For You
If you’ve been longing for the chance to take your skills and profession overseas, then the Dubai Health Authority could be looking for a candidate with exactly your credentials. Doctors are currently well sought after in the UAE, with consultants and physicians in particularly high demand.
Working in a foreign health service can be liberating, especially if it results in better pay or workplace culture. Whilst it may take some time to get used to the way things are done there, a doctor job in Dubai has the potential to reignite your passion for the profession. The Dubai Health Service is renowned for being one of the most efficient in the world and the city itself is one of its fastest growing economies. If you’re looking to advance your medical career abroad, then doctor jobs in Dubai could be the answer you’re looking for.
Making The Move To The UAE
Dubai is the largest city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Expats tend to flock to Dubai because the sun takes up residence there all year round. From May To October, temperatures can reach up to 50°C, but fortunately air conditioning is an ever present resource.
Around 80% of the population is foreign born. Expats from across Europe and the US live comfortably alongside locals, since Dubai is a far more liberal state than many of its neighbours. Whilst there are traditional customs to adhere to, your way of live won’t change dramatically.
In order to enter the UAE you will need to apply for a Visa. In many cases, your employer will file for a Visa and work permit for you, before you arrive. Doctor jobs in Dubai are well sponsored, so you shouldn’t have any difficulties obtaining the necessary paperwork.
Working In The Dubai Healthcare Service
The Dubai Healthcare Service is currently undergoing a ten year reform, with the city hoping to bring new services and facilities to its people. Because of this, an estimated 16,000 new members of staff will need to be recruited. Whilst the UAE will look to source a number of these medical professionals from their developing colleges, experienced staff will still need to be recruited from overseas. As a doctor looking for a job in Dubai, now could be the perfect time to offer your expertise.
Those with a postgraduate degree, specialising in either surgery or consultancy, are most likely to be accepted. A doctor job in Dubai is no different to the equivalent position here and your skills will be directly transferrable. As long as you have the necessary qualifications to prove you have at least 2 years of continuous medical practise under your belt, you shouldn’t hit too many roadblocks along the way.
Conditions And Pay For Doctors In Dubai
In the press, Dubai looks like an expensive place to live. But don’t be fooled by its rich, glossy exterior. Whilst you will need to earn a comfortable wage to rent or buy a house there, you can actually get more for your money than you would in the UK. Imported goods tend to be more pricey (as they are in most countries), but on the whole groceries and rent are somewhat cheaper than the London equivalent. In fact, it would cost you £1000 less to maintain the same standard of living in Dubai that you would have in London.
With the average physician in Dubai earning 354,693 AED (£66,176) a year, this lifestyle is easily achievable. Although you may have to pay more for luxuries such as alcohol, on the whole you will be able to afford a higher quality of life in an exuberant city. This life will also be largely tax-free. Currently, Dubai has no policies in place for paying income tax, which means you will get 100% of your wages each month. Some tax may be necessary on imported goods, but this will already be added to the price.
