Pharmacy Manager
Medacs Healthcare are delighted to be recruiting for a full-time Pharmacy Manager position based in London.
JOB SUMMARY
Deliver quality patient care:
• To ensure Pharmacy service complies with all Healthcare Commission regulations and standards as laid down in the National Minimum Standards Regulations for Independent Healthcare.
• To deliver a best in class pharmacy service Unit. The pharmacy and clinical supplies department is an integral function for treating patients.
Business Efficiency
• Ensure that the contractual standards are met.
• To manage the Pharmaceutical dispensing, procurement and stock control (via the appropriate teams) within the unit.
• Drive a cost saving project quarterly.
• To assume line management responsibility for pharmacy staff and Clinical Supplies Manager.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Statutory
• Assist in ensuring that all relevant certificates and licences are obtained, kept up to date and displayed as per requirements.
• To ensure that all treatments given meet individual patient needs, reflect good practice and are provided by means of appropriate equipment.
• To enable patients to make informed decisions about their treatment and general welfare.
• To maintain a system for reviewing quality of treatment.
• To ensure that comprehensive records are maintained in respect of all patients.
• The Pharmacist must also ensure that he/she can he demonstrates that he/she has undertaken periodic training to update his/her knowledge, skills and competence to manage the establishment.
• Issuing and control of all controlled drugs to ward and theatre. Perform quarterly audits of all units.
• License to trade. Actively participate in quarterly pharmacy audits, clinical governance and HCC inspection criteria.
Service Provision
• Dispensing of medication for in patients as required.
• Carry out daily ward rounds and daily monitoring of patients own medication, TTO medication.
• Contribute effectively towards the business plan.
Managerial
• Pharmaceutical stock control for the Unit
• Maintain relationships with key external suppliers
• Work closely with colleagues to establish best operating practice and identify and meet individual and collective training and developmental needs.
Systems and Administration
• Be responsible for all health and safety aspects of the Pharmacy and Clinical materials store
• Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of all local policies and actively participate in conjunction with other disciplines, in the formulation and implementation of local policies and unit specific policies and procedures
• Integrate IT systems with local NHS requirements.
Professional/Clinical
• Be responsible for maintaining high standards of clinical practice and patient care by the use of clinical example and leadership skills.
• To ensure the effective implementation and monitoring of effective clinical pathways from pre-op to post-op and rehabilitation.
• Be responsible for carrying out audits on a regular basis regular to ensure good practice.
Staff Development and Training
• Supervision of the pharmacy staff and Clinical Supplies Manager.
• Provide motivation, leadership and regular supervision to team to ensure that delegated responsibilities are achieved.

Qualifications
• Qualified Pharmacist
Experience
• Management of a small team
• Management of a comprehensive and effective stock control system
• Evidence of effective clinical evaluation of products involving staff & patients
Skills and Knowledge
• Ability to maintain and enhance effective working relationships
• Ability to contribute to, monitor and implement changes and improvements to the service
• Able to set and audit standards
• Uses conflict resolution strategies to achieve a satisfactory settlement.
