Hygiene Manager - Food
HYGIENE MANAGER POSITION IN FOOD INDUSTRY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for assessing, establishing and improving hygiene operations as required maintaining the optimum performance and adhering to quality standards. Once implemented phase 1 is completed, the role will move to day-to day management of the hygiene quality system
• Ensure all policies relating to role are created, rolled out and updated on a regular basis (handbook and induction, SOP manuals etc)
• Ensure system in place adheres to legislation and supports the business needs and is user friendly
• Maintain the cleaning system of full factory
• Management of cleaning crew, ensuring good hygiene practices are implemented, teams trained fully and documentation to support up to date
• Wash Down procedures implemented, documented, rolled out an trained
• Full 24/7 management of all cleaning over all shifts
• Daily implementation of BRC, ISO and HACCP
• Manage and ensure all employees are trained on good hygiene practices relating to personal hygiene, work hygiene, environment and equipment hygiene
• Audit hand washing practices and ensure good safe system in place relation to soap, antibacterial agents and drying facilities
• Audit the wearing of PPE gear ensuring supplies available at all times on the production floor
• Management of the waste discharges from the cleaning system (wash downs and waste from equipment etc) ensure all compliant with EPA legislation
• Auditing of ones own work and auditing of the system and employees daily, weekly, monthly and recording of same
• Chemicals management (ordering, budget, usage, dilution %, storage, training and maintaining knowledge of new technologies and cleaning systems)
• Good understanding of microbiology and reading results from swabbing
• Coordination of the deep clean of the equipment and discharge areas (drains etc)
• Documenting corrective actions and following through to ensure corrective actions are implemented and that they are effective
• Ensuring complete and timely investigations following incidents relating to non-compliance
• Immediate reporting of serious complaint trends to relevant parties
• Work with the on site Quality team identifying improvement areas to ensure regulatory compliance
• Liaise on customer and audit visits
SKILLS:
• Minimum 3 years experience in the food industry (preferably meat industry)
• Food qualification an advantage
• Working knowledge of HACCP, BRC & ISO
• Knowledge of environmental waste legislation
• Have previous experience managing people, delegating work and measuring performance
• Competency in Microsoft word, excel and email
