Do you want to make a difference in your everyday working life if so this job is for you? This opportunity is suitable for somebody who has an interest working within the area of early intervention, family care, and special needs. The role will involve working in a multidisciplinary team and providing a social work service to the service users within the community. Starting a new job can be daunting and therefore to take away some of this pressure and ensure that you are comfortable in the environment they offer a full induction and training programme.
Responsibilities:
• The provision of a comprehensive social work service to clients and their families.
• To assess the service user’s social situation and identify the social, relationship and environmental factors that has or contributed to their problems.
• To provide written assessment and progress reports as required.
• To link service users and their carer’s/families to the services and resources appropriate to their need.
• To liaise with and maintain good working relationships with other statutory services, in particular the primary health care staff and community care teams in the surrounding areas.
• To liaise with and maintain good relationships with voluntary bodies and groups working for the benefit of those with intellectual disability issues.
• To act as an advocate on behalf of those unable to represent their needs adequately.
• To engage in therapeutic work with service users and their families/support systems using counselling skills of social work and models of social work intervention.
• To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in the services and to attend all meetings/case conferences as required.
• To engage in the development of education and support groups for service users and families/support systems in the designated catchment area as required.
• To co-operate with supervision by the Principal Social Worker, to maintain best practice, high standards and promote professional development.
• To maintain records to high standards, according to catchment area requirement and as directed by Principal Social Worker.
• To co-operate in research and evaluation of the social work service as required.
• Be flexible in the working hours of service delivery as currently practiced.
• Take suitable care of materials and equipment issued to them.
Requirements:
• A professional qualification in social work which is recognised as equivalent by the Irish National Social Work Qualifications Board.
• Ideally have at least 1 years post qualification experience, Irish experience would be an advantage
• Good interpersonal and communication skills essential.
